Preparing the Dough for Chicken Cheese Paratha

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups sifted white flour
  • 1.5 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 3 tbsp melted ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup water (or as needed)
  • 1 tsp melted ghee
  • Additional melted ghee for greasing and frying
  • 1 cheddar cheese slice
  • 1 tbsp melted ghee

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sifted flour and salt.
  2. Gradually add the melted ghee to the flour mixture and rub it in with your fingertips until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add water gradually, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Divide the rested dough into equal-sized portions.
  6. Roll out each portion into a thin, circular shape. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling and bring the edges to cover the filling and make a circle. Make it a circular paratha and it’s ready to fry.
  7. Fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
