Shami Kebabs

Shami Kebabs have always been my best bud, helping me out through tough times. Discover the secret to making perfect Shami kebabs with our authentic recipe. Shami kebabs

Ingredients:

30 mins      4 people

  • 250g yellow chickpeas (chana daal)
  • 500g boneless chicken
  • 5-7 green chilies
  • A handful of chopped fresh coriander
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ½  tsp crushed black pepper
  • 1 tbsp roasted and crushed cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp crushed red chilies
  • 2 egg
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • Chopped fresh coriander for garnish
  • 1 cup Water 

Instructions:

  1. Wash chickpeas and chicken. 
  2. In a pressure cooker add chickpeas, chicken, salt, and water. Keep it in pressure for 10-15 minutes until chickpeas and chicken are cooked.   
  3. Combine the boiled chickpeas, chicken, green chilies, mint leaves, coriander, onions, garam masala, black pepper, egg, cumin seeds, and red chilli in a food processor for chopping. Process until the mixture is finely chopped and well combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into small, flat patties using greased hands.
  5. Heat cooking oil in a frying pan.
  6. Take 1 egg and dip each Shami kebab in the whisked egg.
  7. Fry the kebabs on medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Drain excess oil on paper towels.
  9. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander and serve hot.
